I felt almost harrassed 1.5 years ago to sign the contract when I was letting my little flat near Putney. The agent called me 3 times in a space of 5 hours to get my signature promising the sooner I sign the sooner the property will be marketed. So I stupidly signed the contract.
From then on I've had the following issues:
- the property was over 1 week late appearing on their website
- brochure 1 week late
- viewings 1 week late
- promised they would let it for over £200pcm more then the previous agent only to call me 2 weeks after to ask me to reduce the price to only £50 more what it was before and I was now losing money as their fees were 3 times higher then the previous agent.
- once they let the property I have to call, email and send a pigeon (LOL) to get an answer
- I had to chase more then once to get these sorted: 2nd set of keys for the tenants, signed contracts (from tenants), rent collection dates (current issue - unresolved)
- paperwork not updated on the landlords portal
- rent collections not set up until chased and then late but they insist on collecting it as well as keeping the deposit
- branch manager that does not reply to a complaint letter but gets someone to call me and be defensive with me over the phone
- never ever received an apology for anything I highlighted that went wrong
- still waiting for a response to an e-mail I sent to their accounts person I have been dealing with in the past to fix the rent collection dates (sent two weeks ago) and another e-mail through their website (10days ago) and a phonecall to their switchboard (1week ago), none of which I had a reply to
A friend of mine who is also letting a property through Foxtons (different branch) is even more upset as they "manage" his property. Same issues: making promises they know they will not be able to deliver, exceptionally bad communication, arrogant attitude, incompetence in managing paperwork, crazy high fees.
I think these guys are trained to behave like this and this is a company widespread issue or strategy if you like. Aggressive start, flash cars and once you get the signature job's done - as far as they are concerned.
Instead of calling them again I decided to write this review as I now have enough evidence of their bad practices and am absolutely sure I will never use them again.
If you want to open a cocktail bar and drive flash cars, then open a cocktail bar and drive flash cars - don't trade as an estate agency.
Also, I used to love "minies" but now I can't stand them. That too is their fault.
