During our 1 year tenancy we had a number of issues with the flat rented to us through Brockenhurst including the lighting in one of the bedrooms not working, the buzzer on the ground floor was broken and the front door to the street not locking properly. We never failed to pay our rent on time however none of these issues were ever adressed despite numerous requests to do so.
We left the property on 24/06/2013 and have still not received any of our deposit back (today is 07/08/2013) despite the tenancy agreement stipulating a maximum of 14 days to return it. After the window had passed and having heard nothing from them I tried ringing them to finalise any details of deductions etc. however they seemed unable to send me an email confirming anything. After another week of frustration I ended up raising a dispute with the secure deposit company to try to get things moving. After I had done this they did present me with a figure for the deductions and the landlord gave me an ultimatum of close the despute or we will charge for extra council tax fees and gas bills which we were unaware of until this point.
Eventually I caved and agreed to the dedctions and to close the dispute. Despite this I am still having to call and email them EVERY DAY to get them to transfer the money owed to me which is no small fee.
The impression I get from them is that they are all completely incompetent and seem unable to communicate anything to their tenants unless they need more money from you. Try to avoid this agency if possible!
What agent could do to change your mind?
Acted in a professional mannor at some point during my tenancy and communicated any issues when they arose. New managers would probably help as well; I don't appreciate someone who has owed me over ‚£1000 for more than a month answering the phone to me in a rude way and treating me like I'm making a big deal out of nothing.
Would be nice if they could do their jobs properly!
