It began once we paid the agent fees and handed our notice into our old landlord. We got a call saying another couple is interested and willing to pay £25 more p/m, I stress this was after we paid the agency fee's. Afyer plenty of arguing and the threats from them saying we wouldn't get our fee back we ended up paying £50 more p/m. The amount wasn't such a big deal, more the threats and language they used. There wasn't much we could have done, we put our notice in already. Downhill from there.
So far they have denied issues such as damp, that could have been avoided if they carried out an inspection while the previouse tenants where in. We later found out they hadn't told the landlord about the issue so she wasn't so pleased. We're lucky if we get any notice of someone entering the property and no one can ever confirm what's going on at any given time.
I would be able to accept this kind of short fall because of one poor member of staff but unfortunately it's more wide spread then that. As tasks are handled by both the Durham and Newcastle branch and no one seems to know who's dealing with what, I'm going to say the problem is company/management. There is one guy in a Newcastle office that seems to be trying but fighting a loosing battle.

We complained in writing and after a lot of call dodging the regional manager (we had to eventual call from other phones and offer to wait all day in his office) agreed to pay 50% of the fee back.

Our complaint is so far with ombudsmen.

If your a tenant and have found the place you like and it's unfortunately with bridgfords I would recomened you handle everything by email. It may ease the pain.
If your a landlord, for the same of your sanity (and investment) and that of your tenant, use another agent.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Better organisation and communication with each other and us.

They charge extra for a landlord reference fee when you move out (20 + VAT). Expensive fees, it was a 100 GBP more than our current agent.
