We made an offer to rent a property. Before our offer could be taken to the landlord, we had to put down a holding deposit. We did this via online banking (at their office) on Saturday (31st Aug). We were told that we should hear by Monday if our offer was accepted. Monday - we heard nothing. We called up Madison Brook (MB), we could not get a hold of the agent we were dealing with but was always promised that she would call us back but never got any calls. Then Tuesday again no news or calls from MB, and we were doing all the calling and chasing. As we had put money down, we were tied and could not go anywhere else (at this point all our back-up properties were being taken one by one!). Finally on Wednesday, we were told that the landlord wanted us to pay 6 months rent upfront and we said no at which point the landlord rejected our original offer. MB offered to show us another property, we said we were not keen on the area. They said they would return the deposit that we had put down. This was on 4th August. We are still waiting for the money, despite numerous phone calls and emails. We went to their office 2 weeks ago and they promised that the refund has been processed and will be transferred to our account within 3 to 5 business days. (Now 7 working days later, still nothing!). Initially they were responding to our emails, now, no one is even replying to us. And westill don't have our money, which is causing us financial difficulties.
