We had rented about 5 previous tenancies with different agents around the area and when signing for this one we can remember discussing their charges and asking for tenancy to be in one name to keep costs down, the manager Neil at Frodsham who soon after changed to to others, agreed to full cost for my husband and half cost for me as references still had to be checked - we paid in cash approx £180 or so, we cannot remember exactly but the amount is shown being withdrawn from our bank account at that time. On ending our tenancy after approx 18mths, we were denied the opportunity to go through the property to check inventory with Northwich office staff as stated in our tenancy agreement terms, but thankfully the landlord was happy with it although it was ridiculous the things Reeds Rains had included- such as grey walls in the kitchen are now blue?! They were always blue?
We were then informed by letter from Head Office staff in Chorley that we owed them £396 for \'set up fees\' . We argued this but didn\'t have any receipt to prove payment all this time later, in fact my husband was uncertain he ever got one from the temp. Manager at he time - the Frodsham branch closed soon after!
We asked Vicky at Head Office to provide us with a signed copy of us agreeing to pay costs at the end - we waited and waited for this and she eventually claimed she didn\'t have anything.
The £396 was taken by them from our deposit the landlord had agreed to pay back.
This left us no choice but to take it to My Deposits ADR - adjudication scheme for when there is a dispute - the outcome ....... We can only ave £66 back as Reeds Rains have been recognised as being owed £330 ?!
Evidence they gave was some sort of signed agreement from us to pay costs at the end? Why wasn\'t this produced when asked for - because they didn\'t have it !
We have no opportunity now to ask to see this \'document\' unless we get a solicitor - which we are going to do!
My deposits have just accepted their piece of \' evidence.\' If it was something we signed and agreed to then why have we never had a copy or are being allowed to see it now?

DON\'T EVER USE REEDS RAINS FOR RENTING - PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS OR YOU STAND TO HAVE YOUR RIGHTS TAKEN AWAY WITH LOTS OF MONEY THEY DECIDE YOU OWE THEM!
