I rented a property from Connect Property Management between November last year and May of this year.

Whilst living in the property, I had no cause for complaint mainly due to me dealing with the landlord for all repairs and maintenance. Due to unforseen family circumstances I had to relocate at the end of my tenancy. I gave Connect Property my notice and agreed that I would make myself available should they wish to advertise the property and have prospective tenants view the property. The property was advertised, but no viewings took place before I moved out.

I moved out just before the end of my tenancy (the rent was paid up until the end of the tenancy) and handed the keys back in along with the alarm code etc. The property was cleaned before I left and I left cleaning products to clean and build up of dust that may have accumulated while the property was lying vacant. I spoke with Colin who advised that once the final inspection was carried out, my deposit would be released. After weeks of waiting and no contact from Connect and no deposit being paid to my bank account, I called Connect to check on the progress. Each time I was fobbed off with Colin was not in the office and he would call me back (he never did), before finally being told by George that the flat had been dirty upon vacation and had been cleaned. Upon pressing him further, he then claimed that the cleaning had not yet been done (?) and I would receive my deducted deposit once invoice had been received. He then went on to state that the property was not ready to move into, despite it being advertised on Rightmove as being available IMMEDIATELY and at a higher rent than I was paying.

I fail to see how it could take a month to inform me of deductions from my deposit and even with deductions, my deposit should be returned to me in a timely manner.

I don\'t have much experience of Connect Property as far as repairs etc go, but if you rent a property from them unless you plan on staying there forever them BEWARE.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Return deposits within a reasonable time.
