Having pursued me with weekly phone calls telling me that "THey had many, many clients desperate for a property like mine" Firstly they overvalued it by £70,000, They were disgustingly bad, uncommunicative , through their neglect we lost a sale and had to reduce the price. never returned calls, never gave feedback on the few viewing, eventual resigned. Sold the property privately, without any help whatsoever from Foxtons. They eventual discovered my sale and their first procedure was to issue a Bankruptcy order against me for the commission. Once that was thrown out. They proceed vehemently through the courts for the money. They suddenly produced letters of offers that we knew nothing about during our agreement period. Fictionalised dates. and as it turned out had spoken to my purchaser with a view to reselling the property for him. Being two pensioners and with this being dragged out for 18 months, their philosophy being "we can keep going as long as we like,as we can afford to lose, you will run out of money before us. With my wife\'s health suffering this had now completely ruined of our lives for that period. We had run out of all our savings, which meant we could not afford to go to court and had to settle, purely for our sanity, £56,000 gone. So if you want to deal with an Estate Agent without ethics and who will lie to get what they want by any means. Then Foxtons are the ones to go for as they will not care a jot about anything other than getting your money. Sales staff are mercenary and totally inefficient.
