We rented a property through them for 2 years and had no problems but when it came to us moving because we had bought a property they were appalling. They insisted that we pay them £650 so that they could find new tenants, when we refused to do so they didn\'t send anyone around to view the property for the first month. They also told us that even though we had given them 2 months notice we would be obliged to pay until the end of year contract if no one rented the house in the allotted time. We did meet people who wanted to rent the place the day after we moved out but they rented instead to people who could move in 2 months later and expected us to cover the rent until then.
We gave up communicating with them and ignored their relentless calls and e-mails. Of course we lost our deposit of £2150 which we would have lost anyway due to the fact that they were in no way reasonable.
It was a horribly stressful time. If we had given into their demands we would have been a further £3350 out of pocket...not what you need when you are trying to buy a house.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Tenants should not have to pay a finders fee on a property that they are leaving! They should have tried harder to find tenants to rent the property in the allotted time. We should not have lost our deposit due to their unreasonable demands.
