Avoid Foxtons at all costs!

My experience with Foxtons has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the start, they were pushy and unconcerned about my budget, constantly pressuring me to sign a longer-term lease than I was comfortable with, all while hounding me for a deposit. I began my unfortunate journey with them before moving to the UK, where I was shown outdated photos of the property. The bathroom in the photos was completely different from the reality I walked into! Worse, I was pressured into signing an agreement without ever seeing the place in person—something I deeply regret.

Upon arrival, the property was in terrible condition. They lost the keys to the mailbox, the hot water barely worked, and the shower was completely non-functional, forcing me to find somewhere else to shower. Foxtons essentially expected me to live in a place without hot water to properly clean my dishes, wash my clothes, or take anything but freezing cold showers year-round. When I reached out for help, did Foxtons make any effort to fix the situation? Absolutely not. They simply shrugged it off, blaming me for signing the agreement sight unseen. It's been almost a month of fighting with them to dissolve the agreement because the place is uninhabitable, but they've been nothing but evasive and unapologetic.

To make matters worse, every time I contact them, I have to re-explain the entire issue because they clearly don't communicate internally. They pass the blame from one person to the next, and no one takes responsibility.

Foxtons is a ridiculous, unprofessional company, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Save yourself the stress and go elsewhere.

What agent could do to change your mind?
- Researched the properties they were showing us as clients and verifying that they suited all of our specific requests and needs. - Arranged for someone to be at the property on move-in day, as promised. - Not TELL us when you will be arranging viewings, but to ASK and to work with our schedules. - Be kind, courteous and professional. If someone treats us with respect, we respond with respect. And vice versa.

What agent could do to change your mind?
When moving out made the transition period less stressful and given us the correct procedure so that they wouldnt spend the next 3 months hounding us daily and issuing threats to attend court to obtain money not owed to them. I am not alone in this complaint, so many people I know from that area have had varying issues with Foxtons. I wouldnt recommend Foxtons to a homeless person.
