The agent was helpful in finding a house to buy and then acted on our behalf to manage the property. We spent a lot of money doing up the property, leaving it in very good condition. Unfortunately the tenants selected were not good, although that is not entirely their fault. Their big fault was in not overseeing the property correctly, and us finding serious damage caused after only 24 months. Then their attitude of complete denial and we are perfect, coupled with petty minded attitude towards us, a customer who was paying 10% of rental fee for very little service, was quite frankly shocking. They refuse to recognise any fault and try to counter-argue that they always did everything perfectly and that they are the best, a rather sorry attitude since we are much better looked after since we left. Now they refuse to hand over documents we require for our tax filings, further show of abuse and petty mindedness.
What agent could do to change your mind?
- Better selection and vetting of potential tenants - Better communication and information sent to landlord - Most importantly, proper checks of the property and its state - Consider that they are not always perfect and do everything right.
