We had the worst possible experience with this letting agency. We were going to rent a house from overseas, we travelled to london, and after seeing some houses we decided for one of Gordon & Co. Everything at first seemed fine, they demanded a 425 £ deposit, we paid it, the proprietor accepted us and we arranged that we would sign the contract a week later, so we returned back home to arrange the removal. They demanded us a reference check although we agreed to pay in advance the whole year so it was quite pointless. Then, 2 days before travelling with all the flights and train tickets booked they say that the proprietor doesn\'t want to rent the house any longer. I don\'t know if it was true or not, regardless, they said it like that and they didn\'t provide any similar property or any other solution.
Then, we asked the 425 £ deposit back, and they told us that the reference check costed 75 £ for each person (we were two persons), but in an "act of good gesture" they reduced it to 50 £ each, so we have been returned 325 £. We weren\'t told we would be charged for the reference, and they weren\'t used all the same, but they still charged 100£.
So, if you can, avoid by all possible means this company, and remember, never pay anything before signing a contract.
