We rented from Luff a few years ago and we had a terrible experience with them. For a start their charges are far more than any other agent we have ever used and we have rented alot! We had a few issues with our flat, some they dealt with immediately and others they ignored. Our main problem was with damp, our whole bedroom was damp, the wardrobe was damp and all my shoes and some clothes went moldy. They tried to blame this on us saying we had the heating on too much / didn\'t open the window (in the depths of wintery snow!) etc. We didn\'t and haven\'t done anything different in other places and never had this problem. The problem was with the insulation - my Father is a quantity surveyor and told me himself what the problem was but they ignored us. They were so pinickety with their three monthly check ups, tight down to the tiniest piece of mildew. They wouldn\'t let us contact our landlord saying it wasn\'t allowed - we eventually managed to and he was really nice - we had tried to contact him because after 6 months when we went onto a rolling contract we were to be charged for a piece of paper and so was he so we wanted to sort it out without rip-off Luff!
Eventually, and luckily we moved out. We were told we had to hire a professional carpet cleaner, dry clean curtains, house cleaner and oven cleaner. We thought that as we were really amazing cleaners ourselves that we would do this ourselves - apart from the carpet cleaner which we paid for professionally.
When we left on check out the check out person informed us that the building as a whole had always had a damp problem and it wasn\'t us or what we did at all. It took a really long time to get our deposit back.
Judy was really nice to deal with but Sue Scott was very unprofessional and patronising we thought!
DON\'T USE LUFF
