I was a tenant for 3 years and 9 months.
On initial inspection of the flat I was not advised by Joe Cadman, of MyLondonHome that it was a council flat. Notting Hill Housing Association subsequently advised it was an illegal letting.
During the tenancy I asked for defects to be rectified on numerous occasions. The defects were not trivial and included a leaking shower, severe dampness in the walls, a German cockroach infestation, a broken and unusable bed, broken cupboard doors, a front door that would not close and unfinished work to repair the walls.
Mostly my requests were ignored. Occasionally they were attended to and sometimes they were inspected with the promise of rectification but with no follow up action. The Landlord is not refunding the Deposit.
What agent could do to change your mind?
The agent was extremely unresponsive in rectifying defects. the cockroach infestation was a serious health issue, the leaking shower caused mould to grow in the bathroom, the broken bed was unusable. I have now vacated the flat and the agent and landlord will not refund the deposit.
