We rented a 4 bedroom flat in Highgate through Black Katz in February 2012 for 1 year. In the beginning they said it would be no problem renewing the contract for another year, as long as the rent was paid on time. 2 months before the contract ended they sent us a letter asking if we would renew it and me and my 3 other flatmates decided to do so. 1 month before the contract expired we received a call saying that the Landlord no longer wished to continue the contract. When we asked why they said it was because he was going to increase the price and that he also wanted a fix group that would not make any tenants changes, even though 3 of us stayed for the entire year and only one had changed. So we decided to call the Landlord himself to try to change his mind. When asked why he wanted us to move out he said he said no such thing, he was happy to let us continue the contract and Black Katz was the one that suggest the price raise. We tried to argue with the agency but they were completely inflexible and as the Landlord is friends with one of the managing directors we have no other alternative other than moving out in less then one month.
Other then that throughout the year we struggled to get anything fixed in the flat, cupboard doors were falling apart, the heating barely works and our window glasses kept falling out in the street every time we tried cleaning them. It took them 3 months during autumn to fix one of them and during that time we had our living room rained in a few times. When they finally fixed them they put a temporary glass that is now 6 months old and we don\'t dare touching it, as we live on the 4th floor and having window glasses popping out on the street can be a bit dangerous.

The only way I can explain the 5 stars reviews in this page is because they call you nonstop in the first weeks asking you to write them one.

i am sorry that you have had reason to complain, if you can please provide the property address we wil look into matters ASAP.
I can assure you that the reason we get so many good reviews is because we work very hard at customer service.
Finally, I am confused as you start by stating your desire to renew your tenancy and then finish off by stating that the flat is in very poor condition and the heating barely works.
Our apologies again that you have needed to complain and we look forward to hearing from you.
