I live in a 'freehold' house in SE London, when I moved in, in October 1996, my council tax was £589.93 a year (this year £1,440) that is an increase of 2.46 times.

My service charges were £40 a year, FirstPort was then called Solitaire, this company had such a bad reputation that they changed their name, to OM Property Management and then FirstPort. My last service charges bill was £446.78. which is more than eleven times increase! Rip off!

Go For it Michelle although I don’t know how much joy you will have. These guys have a track record of worming their way out of things. I’ve tried raising awareness through watchdog/dispatches etc so another person doing the same may well be a sensible approach also. I would have a look at their trustpilot also. It’s a disgrace ...

Make a formal complaint to them and give them 8 weeks to resolve it to your satisfaction. Then you can report them to the Property Ombudsman if they do not. If they are attempting to defraud you, report them to Action Fraud. In addition email the Housing Minister Robert Jenrick - [email protected] to make him aware of their shameful business practices. ...

You do not have to pay the £120 fee for registering a new sub-let. Simply send a notice with the details and enclose a cheque for £40, with a covering letter that the £40 is to cover the cost of a junior clerk retrieving, amending and returning your file a process that should take 6 minutes. By doing this you have complied with the lease, leaving Firstport having to take action to prove it costs £120 to carry out a registration. Remember, registration is different from permission and far les ...
