Absolutely shocking treatment.
We were told at a viewing by the estate agent that they would not take our mortgage with HSBC as it takes too long to process and that we would need to go through their financial adviser. We did not put forward an offer because of this. At a later point the property was put back on the market - and she called us. This time we put forward an offer for a flat, however was subsequently informed that we would need to speak to a financial adviser before they would put our offer forward to the vendor. When the financial adviser later called, wanting to \'ensure were had the financials in place\' - I informed him that we had a mortgage in principle and that this should be suffice - as we had gone through credit checks with the bank. He still refused, and said I needed to provide him with our financial information. When I asked him if this was legal (as he appeared to want to sell us a mortgage opposed to checking whether we could afford the flat) - he changed his tactic and stated that he would put forward our offer, but would not recommend us to the vendor. Would not recommend for selling or buying!
