I used APL on first arriving in Aberdeen in 2008. Despite keeping the property in immaculate condition and cleaning it thoroughly prior to vacating, APL produced a damage report containing items and level of detail listed nowhere in the original inventory and withheld a third of the deposit, claiming that the flat required specialist cleaning. Subsequent conversations with others who\'ve dealt with this company reveal this to be standard procedure. My experience confirmed an impression of general arrogance already conveyed by their restricted opening hours, weekend closures and a vaguely nonchalant, complacent and cynical attitude shown by staff whenever I visited their offices. They very obviously exploit a captive transient market of inexperienced students and energy professionals whose employers are prepared to pay whatever rent and other tarifs an agent chooses to incur. I would urge anybody new to Aberdeen to give APL an extremely wide berth. They may have a lot of properties on their books but they are by far the most expensive and the worst leasing agents I know of in Aberdeen.
