Rented a damp, mouldy cottage for 4.5 years. Landlord (owner) not bothered. Belvoir provided dehumidifier. I had clothes that were damaged by mould. I never claimed for them but wished I had. Getting repaire fixed was a nuisance because it always took several phone calls. When the washing machine broke, it took almost 3 weeks to get a new one. Not satisfactory with 2 adults and 2 children.
Having left the house, clean, tidy, in good repair, it has now been 40 days and still have not had deposit returned -no valid reason either. Deposit is protected with DPS. Now in process of sending pre-action court letter. Belvoir staff most unhelpful & unsympathetic in dealing with me. The check out report they did was satisfactory and did not cite any problems. I would never use them again. Clearly the property owner should not be renting out property either.
The damp environment has affected my health and my son. We have since moved into a 'normal' house.
