It is always unfortunate when the relationship between a tenant and a landlord breaksdown to such an extent that the tenant feels they have no alternative but to vacate a property. The four periodic inspections which took place during the tenancy were accurate at the time and carried out by very experienced members of our lettings team. Unfortunately when the tenant vacated the property two months after the last inspection, the tenant had taken the decision not to conduct a final clean but to voluntarily surrender the bond. The condition of the property on final check out bore no resemblence to the condition the tenant normally kept the property in whilst they were resident. The tenant had always been very house proud. With regard to the keys to the property, the tenant felt the need to change the locks at the property during their residency, due to the reported unscheduled visits to the property by Mr Taylor. As Mrs Eden-Taylor had already informed the office she had instructed a locksmith to change the locks, the tenant felt there was no need to return keys that no longer fit the house locks after the check date.
