My partner & I had the misfortune of dealing with this company for a property rental and to say that they are the most unprofessional and inept company would be a gross understatement.
They made a monumental series of errors that got us so frustrated we ended up contacting the Property Ombudsman.
We have been lied to, deceived and their whole attitude throughout has been a nonchalnat one.
To highlight some of the issues - they advertised a property at a negotiated price, then on the eve of us moving told us the \'proposed rent was to be increased\', I refused the new asking price and had to negotiate over the phone a new deal, had this not have been done we may have found ourselves with nowhere to live.
They had no record of us paying the holding fee and security deposit and even asked me to provide proof with a bank statement - I refused to do this as I believe any company should have records of their finances.
I was not given a receipt either!
The gas appliances in the house we were renting (we have since moved) were unsafe and inadequate and had no safety certification (we found out when we both started suffering from nausea and headaches - a subsequent check proved the gas appliances were \'dangerous\' and not to be used any longer).
Although I believe the Landlord is responsible for this, surely the letting agents should have their own checks in place.
I made several attempts after this to complain about their service (or lack of it) following their complaints procedure (branch, area, then onto Ombudsman if still not satisfied) only to be met with further frustration by their inability to respond or deny receiving any mail from me.
It is then that took the step to contact the Property Ombudsman, as I was not getting any satisfaction from this company or COUNTRYWIDE RESIDENTIAL LETTINGS (the group that DIXONS is part of and to whom I had to further address my complaints).
DIXONS ESATE AGENTS and COUNTRYWIDE RESIDENTIAL LETTINGS both consitently failed to address my concerns and further \'flouted\' concerns when addressed by the Property Ombudsman.
My partner and I are both glad we will NEVER have to deal with this company again, though I feel any points raised by the Ombudsman will sadly be ignored as this seems to be their way of dealing with their customers.
They are ignorant, unprofessional, deceiful, they are prone to lying and do not have their custmers concerns at heart.
Unfortunately, I feel we are not the only ones who have had to deal with their extremely poor service and sadly I feel we wont be the last.
If you have the chance to use any one else other than DIXONS ESTATE AGENTS and/or COUNTRYWIDE RESIDENTIAL LETTINGS then may I suggest you do so and hopefully avoid any misery, confusion and wasted time with these people.
