Let’s start this with a positive and say “Thank g-d for Saif”, he is the only good thing about this company and the only staff member that has any idea about customer service or even some morality.
AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE, and if you ever have the misfortune of encountering Peter Lawrence run a mile!! The man is compulsive liar and has no idea what he is doing. He also likes to employ staff that have no issue with threatening clients in front of their children, simply asking that we brush it under the carpet.
Fortunately for Birchills we loved the house we were buying more than we hated Birchills. Unfortunately the house we were buying had tenants in that needed to be served notice however rather than take the correct route and ensure the paper work was in place Birchills, and I Quote, “we’re going to see if they just leave”. Upon demanding that this was done legally and that all Paperwork be correctly filed we started to question if said tenants even knew the house had been sold. Upon asking the letting manager if the tenants even knew the house was sold he started to become very threatening in front of my children and for want of a better phrase throwing his toys out of his Pram and storming off. The man has the customer service skills of a nat and genuinely scared my children watching their parents be verbally abused! When discussed in detail with Peter he simply wanted to brush it under the carpet!
Peter at one stage asked me to exchange and complete and again I quote, “take a chance the tenants will leave when they should”. I asked him if he would take this risk with his own children knowing he wouldn’t so how dare he ask me to do the same with mine. And any agent that is by the book would know you do not do this. This gives serious cause for concern over how unethical his approach was.
After finally completing and getting the keys we excitedly went into our new house only to find that what Peter claims to be a spotless home was in fact full of the previous tenants unwanted goods, the gas and electric had been turned off to “save me money” and the tenants left over freezer food had defrosted creating a mouldy and very smelly environment. The agent should have ensured that the house was clean and free from the tenants items as per the legal documentation from solicitors.
Let me make this clear, I am not responsible
for any bills until the date of completion so saving me money is a load of bull, and spotless what the? The agents are clearly have very very low standards. And yes I have gutted it but what I do to my home which I have paid for is none of the agents business and unfortunately as my dealings were with the agent and not the owners then it’s down to them to leave the house in an acceptable standard after the tenants vacated!! You left me with no heating or hot water.
My opinion of Birchills is unfortunately not unique. After speaking with other agents they also share the same opinion. I would also be careful of any solicitors they recommend as they were also as tiresome as the agency.
Thankfully there are a ton of other agents out there, so save yourself and avoid Birchills. For your own mental well being and sanity run!!
Thank god my selling agent and my solicitor were amazing and helped with the process because left to Birchills our move would not have happened.
And now we find that Birchills are using our property clearly displaying our road and door number for marketing purposes. We have not and never will give permission to this company to use our property for their own gain. This is being investigated as we speak.
To add we have also gone back and forth over whether to post this review out of genuine fear over Birchills reaction and repercussions. But we would be doing a disservice to other members of the public if we didn’t give the truth.
And yes I fully anticipate a reply back to this review because Mr Lawrence will want the last word, but consider this, why would we lie. We simply purchased a house via them with no financial gain for us and they actually were not even employed by us. So why the review I hear you ask, simply put, the world needs to know that this is not how business should be done and to avoid this particular one. In a year of #bekind and helping your fellow man, this Moto bypassed Birchills.
