Rented from Rockford for about a year and a half. disclosed my disability early on, not that it made a difference. The flat sucked but it was cheap & I could see it sucked at the viewing (although they definitely didn’t clean or decorate before we moved in). During the tenancy they were useless, we had issues with antisocial behaviour from drug users that they were useless to help, basically told me it was my/the councils problem. They also left us with one single electric radiator (plug in) for 6 months and left us an entire winter with no heating (I would call or text at least once a week about this). I was promised on the wall radiators would be installed in October, yet by the time I left in August no radiators AND I even had one of their staff members laugh at me and tell me I was making it up. They INSIST on doing all business over the telephone, even though I explained email is significantly better for me with my disability- this is quite clearly so they can lie over the phone (“I’ve ordered the wall mounted radiators now” one agent told me over the phone) and there’s no record of it. I had to start recording my calls with them because they would say one thing over the phone & then deny it a number of times. They also left us without a working oven for over 5 WEEKS, despite knowing my health issues and despite me calling them at least twice a week, desperately trying to sort out an oven of some kind. They never inspected the flat though so that was something. As per their ‘move out checklist’, we hired a professional cleaning team to clean the flat the day we handed the keys back in. They present this like it’s mandatory and repeatedly asking for clarification got me nowhere other than snarky replies from their staff. A couple of weeks after we moved out, we get the deposit request back and they’re asking for £130 to decorate and £130 for cleaning because apparently some ‘light vacuuming’ was needed. I reached out to Rockford directly to attempt to resolve this but was ghosted as soon as I provided the invoice for the cleaning. Thankfully, the deposit company agreed with us but it’s easy to see how they likely rip many vulnerable people and students off on a regular basis with these shady tactics. Would very strongly advice against using this company for anything, unless you’re a landlord, in which case i’m sure they’ll minimise your costs and maximise your returns.
We’ve since moved in with another local agency and honestly it’s 100x better. I don’t constantly live in an anxious state, not one of their employees has laughed in my face or otherwise been disrespectful, and any maintenance requests have been dealt with much faster than in a month.
Oh and then months after we moved out I got another call from them accusing me of stealing the electric radiators that had been broken for almost 2 years at that point.
