This review dates from May 2012 through till July 2012. We were in the position of first time buyers with a 10% deposit. We\'d already arranged an agreement in principal mortgage through a specialist bank, and then we went looking for houses.
We used RightMove as our main source of leads, rather than going to an agent and asking what property they had, and it was because of a property on RightMove that we found ourselves ringing up Harvey Robinson, and dealing with Grant McNicoll. We found Grant to be different from the three other companies we were dealing with that week - Grant would return phone calls personally, and either remembered us personally or checked his client notes before calling, all of which was rather different from what the other agents from other companies were doing.
When we viewed the house with Grant, he didn\'t try any "tricks" with us. He gave us the facts about the property and was happy to let us view it ourselves without having to be in the same room as us all the time. That again was quite different, we\'d frequently found we needed to almost demand other agents not stand right next to us all the time.
Eventually it came to time to put in an offer. Grant passed it on to the vendor very quickly and got us a reply quickly too. Once our offer was accepted, we had more dealings with the Financial Advisor at Harvey Robinson, who also seemed to take on the role of Official-Solicitor-Chaser and Weekly-Updater, both of which he was very good at!
We found Harvey Robinson, and the two people named here, to be friendly, courteous and efficient. People say that house buying is one of the most stressful things you can do, and while the moving was stressful, and the arranging of the mortgage and dealing with all the issues that a solicitor throws up was stressful, dealing with Harvey Robinson certainly was not. They\'re a small, local firm and that allows them to have a great deal of attention to detail and actually care. We would have no problem recommending them very highly indeed.
