Sterling De Vere are the WORST estate agents ever, they provide awful service and they will do every thing possible to scam you out of your money. I do not understand how they are still able to practice. What they do is definitely illegal. Arthur Leroy, Nathan Martinez, Rita Mercier, Amelie Petit and Intekhab Khan are the main people I liaised with throughout my experience with Sterling De Vere.
1. Deposit - they will not return your deposit to you (if they do at all) unless you chase them every day. I have moved out of the property for nearly 6 months and they have still not returned my deposit. Whilst chasing for the deposit, I did not realise that there is a 3 month protection under the TDS which had lapsed. I am only finally beginning to get responses after threatening legal action. They rely on people forgetting or not being bothered. They will not answer your phone calls and pass you from person to person and give rubbish excuses.
2. Cleaning / Wi-FI / maintenance - professional cleaning services were supposed to be included in my bill. The cleaner came twice for the whole year I lived in the property. Internet was also supposed to be included but for about 2 months, we didn't have internet. It was supposed to be a furnished apartment but my bed broke twice because of the cheap products they use (part of the bed was literally made of cardboard) so I had to sleep on the floor. They don't fix things that don't work or are broken around the apartment.
3. Bills - even though bills were supposed to be included in the rent I paid, we kept on receiving letters from the service providers that the bills had not been paid and threatening to cut off our supply. We also had service providers turning up asking us why the bills were not being paid.
4. Fees - there are hidden fees in the costs of renting. They also automatically roll over your tenancy for 3 months if you do not give one month's notice.
The whole experience was AWFUL and has caused me great distress. I really hope someone shuts them down for good but until then you have been WARNED. Do not use Sterling De Vere estate agency. They are all scammers. Avoid them at all costs.
