We rented a property through saffron in tuffnel park. When we moved in the property was filthy despite the inventory saying the property was professionally cleaned. During our stay in the property the two main problems we had were the boiler and rats. The boiler broke on numerous occasions and we were left on a number of occasions with no heating and hot water for up to a week sometimes in the middle of winter.
The main problem was the rats. Two dead rats were found in the flat by us which was very distressing and we had to dispose of them ourselves. The first rotten rat was detected due to the horrendous smell of decay which we contacted saffron about and received no help. The second was found in the living room under our laundry. Throughout our stay in the property we experienced periods of horrendous smells caused by decaying rats. Each time we reported this to saffron we received no help. One day on coming home from work there were so many dead blue bottle flies in the kitchen that it looked like a bag of raisains had been thrown across the kitchen. On one occasion we had a rat running around the living one evening. A frightening experience!
To add insult to injury, with all the bad experiences we had in the property, when we moved out of the property saffron took half our deposit for scratches on old battered furniture that were already there when we moved in. We had also payed for someone to professionally clean the property when we moved out and, despite the property being filthy when we moved in, we were penalised for the cleanliness of the property.
Use at your peril. The most unhelpful letting agent I have used in 12 years of renting.
