We rented a flat from APL for a year and a half. There were issues from the day we moved in including filthy windows (we couldn't see outside on a sunny day because of the amount of dirt), the state of the property and a broken hob. We had to clean the property as they were taking there time and we didn't get a window cleaner in for a month. The hob wasn't fixed until about 3-4 months in, even after SSE deemed it unsafe to use. For flat inspections, they would rarely turn up when they said they would. When it was coming up to the move out date and they needed to show people around, they would give less than 24 hours notice and were rude when they turned up. They had the nerve to try and take £120 for 6 hours of 'cleaning' at the end of the tenancy when the flat was spotless (especially compared to when we moved in). In the moving out report (done after 3 days of handing the keys back), they stated that there was one spider web, cleaning remnants on the cupboard door and slight dust and debris. How that equates to 6 hours of cleaning, I'll never understand. We went through safe deposit Scotland and ended up getting £100 back, with the £20 given to APL because we hadn't time-stamped our moving in photos. Avoid APL if you can unless you want a ridiculous amount of stress during and after your tenancy. For those of you stressing about being charged when moving out, remember to time-stamp all photos, take photos of how clean you left the property right before you hand back your keys, show safe deposit Scotland all photos, including a scan of your tenancy agreement which states that the property is to be left in the condition you moved into and don't bother taking it up with APL as you'll just get a rude response. Something to note, Source Property Services (the inventory company) is a division of APL according to their website. They don't have your interests at heart, they have APL's.
