I am a previous tenant of james dean, we had a 6 month lease with them. The signing up part was fine, they are happy to see new customers, means all new referencing fees and more money for them. When you try to leave james dean and go to a different estate agent, thats when you run into problems. Our deposit took over 2 months to come back, even though we passed the final inventory check with no problems, its supposed to take 10 days! When we tried to look for a simple reference to say we paid our bills, and looked after the place, james dean first requested 80 quid! I rang them again and then the fee was reduced to 50 quid, That is a disgrace for them to just reply to an email or make a quick phone call. By chance we had the landlords number, who gave us an outstanding reference so everything worked out ok in the end. James dean didnt do me any favours, so now im returning that lack of favour to them with this review, people beware
What agent could do to change your mind?
If a tenant is honest, pays their bills, passes the out inventory check no problem, just give them their deposit back, and give them a reference when they request it without trying to charge them a fee for doing so. Them simple 2 things would of resulted in a positive review!
