We rented through Luke who told us the landlord did not usually do a check in but he would let us know so we could be present. We only found out 2 moths in to the tenancy after dealing with their property management that on behalf of the Landlord foxtons had organised a check to be done on the property. We were told any changes would have to be approved by the landlord. A little rich considering they basically went behind our back to have a check in done without our knowledge.

Property managemnt always seem nice but just offer lip-service and never actually follow through on anything without constant pressure!

However our worst experience with Foxtons to date was last saturday (10 months into a 14 month tenancy) when a member of their sales team contacted us about a viewing. When we called them back we found out for the FIRST time that the property was for sale. Jamie then informed us that the couple were very keen to view the property again as they like what they saw LAST WEEK!!!!

A week ago we didn\'t even know the property was on the market let alone were we consulted about people entering our residence without us present. Thes people ENTERED OUR HOME WITHOUT TELLING US!

If you value your tenancy rights do not rent through this company. The stereotype of Estate Agents only being interested in money has never been proven more than by Foxtons employees.

It's down to the landlord to inform you when selling the property, occasionally landlords ask agents not to let tenants know they are selling (since they may want to test the water before first).

Also in terms of the check in, sadly you should have been informed of the check in but if it makes you feel better it not necessary for you to be present in order to question it. A copy of the inventory should be sent to you, once received you usually have two weeks to check it and notify any changes you want done to it. If it isn't sent to you, you should ask someone from the agency or the landlord to chase it for you (since some landlords sometimes do them themselves and dont always book them through the agent - the agent should let you know which).
