The property that we were interested in buying was quite unusual in that it was not a private sale but was being sold by Hampshire County Council. This meant that the negotiations were not straight forward and required Gavin to build up a good relationship with his contact at the Council and understand exactly what she was looking for in a buyer. There was also an added complication in that the council were not selling the full extent of the garden and wished to retain some of it for themselves which presented further concerns and required Gavin to provide us with as much information as he could gather to make totally clear what the Councils proposed pans for the future of the land might possibly be.
Prior to this property coming on the market we had built up a good relationship with Gavin and his team which meant he knew exactly what type of property we were looking for, our budget, our specific search area and things like how much work we were happy to do on a house. As such we were the first people to view the property and Gavin was extremely helpful in providing us with as much information as he possibly could to help us secure the sale once we had decided it was the house we wanted. From the first viewing to actually completing on the property took somewhere in the region of 5 months and there were many hurdles and obstacles to overcome. There were issues that were flagged up on the survey that needing addressing, boundary issues, clarity was needed over such things as the septic tank which remains within the boundaries of the land that the council has retained. But through all of this Gavin gave us his total support, really fought our corner where he could and maintained good contact with our solicitor and the agents through which we were selling our existing house.
We would most certainly use Carsons and Gavin if we were moving again and looking for property in the same area. All in all he and his team offered a totally professional service.
