I have written a review before when I first moved in. Now this is an update to that which will include how my 1 and a half month experience changed my views.
Since all I wrote before was everything what's good about the property and agency services, I will be writing a shorter review that is about what happened this past month.
So first of all, the house was supposed to be "fully equipped" which includes all cutlery and crockery as well as iron/ironing board. However, this wasn't the case. The first couple days I have realised everyone in the house has their own items and the iron doesn't exist anywhere. There are no cutlery that belongs to the house for sharing and there are only one saucepan and one frying pan which one of the tenant claims the frying pan is his. There are no plates or bowls as well. I did not bring my own as I was told I could use the ones for shared but I was left to eat takeaways for couple days. It is all confusing as everyone use their own items and nobody knows which cupboard is for sharing so the items belonging to the house could be put there. I have asked a tenant next door who has been living there for 3 years told me "We never had cutlery, plates and crockery forward sharing and the iron disappeared after one tenant left which was 2 years ago" We can conclude here that someone stole the iron and most likely the other equipments in the kitchen as well. Later on I have raised issues with the agency, a new iron and a cutlery set was provided. There is another big issue that bothered me a lot. There are food left in the cupboards and fridge that have expiry date of 2017 and 2018. It looks like previous tenants left their food and other stuff they think it will be useful for other people in the house. However they are not used and left there to rot basically. I found milk bottles, fruits, eggs, pasta, oils and sauces, honey, cornflakes and a lot other things that were simply disgusting sight and left rotting in the kitchen and nobody did a thing or told anyone. This proves that the agency or whoever is responsible for checking of the condition of house is not doing a good job. The house equipment should be regularly checked and the tenants should be warned about nothing leaving food or items when moving out.
Another issue is the room I am staying had a terrible cigarette odour. It was known before by the agency but nothing was done to remove it. I thought ventilating the room would do but after 2 weeks nothing helped so I raised the issue with agency also mentioning that I have asthma and it affects me. They took care of the issue after 2 weeks and booked a cleaner to steam clean the carpet in the room. The problem is I already took care of the problem by buying odour remover sprays that fights off the smoke odour in the room. It almost got rid of the smell although it is still there mixed with the fresh smell of air spray. The carpet is very dirty and isn't suitable to the standards that the agency and house provides. The previous tenant was a heavy smoker and she smoked in the room and kitchen everyday but nobody said anything and it wasn't prevented. The room should be cleaned before moving in a new tenant or at least the smell could be dealt with. Not after raising an issue.
Overall, if we ignore these, the service you get by the agency is very good and the house and room is all in good condition everything is nice and tidy working all well. Those were the only issues I have/had with the house and the rest is very well and I am satisfied with my stay here.
