Atkinson McLeod may be the best estate agents in London. Unfortunately I have no idea as they never turned up to any of the viewings I scheduled through them.
I arranged a viewing for Thursday with Max. I explained to him over the phone that just the previous evening I'd gone to Elephant and Castle for a viewing with another agency, only for the agency to call me five minutes after the viewing was scheduled to take place to tell me it was cancelled. Max laughed and assured me this would not happen with Atkinson McLeod.
I arrived at 6:00pm for my viewing with Max and called him. He said he was stuck in traffic but would be there soon. A mere 30 seconds after hanging up he sent me a text saying that his colleague had the keys and had gone home, so there would be no viewing that night. I tried calling him and he did not pick up his mobile. The text was quite a long one so I can only assume he KNEW there would be no viewing when I was on the phone to him, but instead of being a man and telling me outright he decided to text me, then refused to pick up the phone. After trying to call him about ten times I text him asking for another viewing date to be arranged for the next day. He text back immediately saying he would 'do his best'. Maybe he had very suddenly lost his voice or hearing, preventing him from picking up the phone? Or maybe he was just a coward? Who knows?
By chance my girlfriend had called Atkinson McLeod to arrange a viewing for a different flat the next day with Robbie. Robbie assured her that we had a viewing at the flat at 12:30. We travelled to Bermondsey, and on the way Max text to let us know that the flat from the previous evening had now been taken. Max was obviously astoundingly busy because he made no effort to call and tell us over the phone - either that or that throat/ear illness had flared up again.
Because we had heard nothing from Robbie for a couple hours - and just to make sure the viewing was still on - we tried ringing him on numerous occasions to make sure he would actually be there. Robbie did not pick up his phone, he must have been incredibly busy laying the red carpet out for us. We rang the Canary Wharf office where Robbie was based to be told that he was actually out at a viewing, but they would try and reach him and get him to confirm. Just 5 minutes after we rang, the office called back. They had managed to get hold of Robbie - surely not through his mobile, we had been ringing constantly and he had not picked up our calls! Maybe they had used smoke signals or carrier pidgeon? The office told us that unfortunately the flat was taken. We thanked the office kindly for leaving it down to us to confirm that everything was still ok - it's not like Robbie is providing a service that would deem it professional (or even polite) to have called ahead of time, or even called us ourselves to tell us it was off, was it?
This was now two different agents who had cancelled two different viewings AT OR AFTER THE TIME THE VIEWING HAD BEEN SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE on two consecutive days, both without having the good grace to actually call us themselves to do it. Someone should send an ambulance round to Atkinson McLeod's office to make sure they're all ok over there, would hate to think they've been struck down with a terrible illness that does not allow them to dial a number.
It seems that the review template on this site does not allow for no stars to be awarded and I'm forced to give at least one star, so I suppose the single positive point of using Atkinson McLeod is that it has kept me fit - trudging to and from South London in rush hour, pacing as I frantically try to reach either Max or Robbie to find out what's going on or if they've left me high and dry again, plus all the calories I've burned by simply typing this review must have done me some physical good. I suppose another good point is that I've never signed on the line with this utterly shambolic outfit of feckless flakes - from my limited experience I'd hate to think what they were like if you relied on them long-term!
I find it quite laughable that I am now being asked by this website for Agent Feedback - What could the agent have done to help me change my mind on them? My answer: they could have actually turned up to the appointments or even let me know that they couldn't make it beforehand, instead of waiting until I'm actually there. Alternatively they could engineer a situation that sees every other estate agency in the world to sink violently into the sea - this would be the only circumstance that would see me contact them again.
