If we had let the Jay take control of everything we would\'ve been carried through the process incredibly smoothly, only to find out several problems once we\'d signed a two year contract. We were told things, like the two year contract, were normal, to persuade us to go ahead. We were asked to hand over £1000 deposit in two installments, with no explanation for the second payment and the first being a holding fee. This is a much higher holding fee than any other lettings agency we rung after. Jay was incredibly kind when the process was going smoothly but didn\'t hesitate to guilt trip us (saying how long he\'d worked on this property and that we owed him to go ahead, despite the fact he had £1000 and his wage). He lied about who would keep the deposit if we pulled out, and Adeeba consistently chose to feed us lies, mostly about the amount of money we\'d have to pay, presumably instead of admitting she didn\'t know a truthful answer. For someone looking to let a property I\'m sure Ludlow Thompson would be brilliant. I know lots of estate agents are deceiving, manipulative and lots of other things that make them money, but that seems to be unavoidable. If you can, avoid Jay and Ludlow Thompson, because they are very good at their job. Adeeba, however, has the same attitude but is much more transparent. To reassure me Jay suggested I look at his excellent reviews. I hope this one stops him tricking people in the same way in the future.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Been more honest about the whole process from the beginning. We probably would\'ve pulled out much earlier had we known about everything from the beginning and wasted less of the landlord\'s, Ludlow Thomson\'s and our own time.
