“Still not received the first month's rent......”

I have used various online letting agencies to rent out my property. I was drawn to Open rent as it offered Everything I needed and the price was good. Setting up the advert, getting contracts sorted etc went perfectly - 10 out of 10, but Openrent collect the first month's rental payment from the tenants and the tenant has been in the property almost a week and despite me contacting them 4 times, the money has still not got my account. Open rent will not commit to a date when the money will be sent - only that it will be up to 14 days after the tenant has moved in. I find this totally unacceptable. If they need to check the tenant has in fact moved in and is happy the property is advertised then great I totally agree that this check should be carried out, but why does this take 14 days? This delay in transferring me the funds has meant that I've now missed a mortgage payment which, for the first time ever, will put a black mark on my credit file. I have called twice today asking some one to call back to discuss this further and give me a date when the money will be transferred so I can inform my mortgage company when they will receive the late payment. They have not called, just emailed the same copy and pasted info about deposits lifted from their website that I have now received from them 3 times. I find this dreadful. I will never use them again and would not encourage you to use them if you require the rental payments in a timely fashion in order to pay a mortgage.

Openrent are fine for advertising but not for renting as they are very slow with references and passing on rent and it’s impossible to speak to them and a nightmare if you have international tenants
