I cannot even begin to describe into words how much grief Hamilton Fox Hackney office has caused me in a year and a half.
Firstly, they took all their fees A YEAR IN ADVANCE out of the deposit by 'accident' contrary to the agreement, and after three months of trying to spread this over the year, I gave up on this matter as other things were more pressing as follows.
They were consistently late in paying the rents due into my account, up to 3 MONTHS in arrears, leaving me to service the mortgage myself for months at a go. I had to chase them up and call up the WHOLE time, which is no easy matter. Furthermore, the tenants would call to report problems (for e.g. leakage in the bathroom) and they took NO action whatsoever, which made the tenants angry.
They STILL owe me one month's rent, 5 months after the termination of the contract, and after hearing 'we'll get back to you' for 4 months, I turned up at their offices demanding a resolve, at which point they took two weeks to find the 'file' for the house!!
When I could not take it anymore, I had threatened to take legal action, to which a staff member said 'well, you can't sue me, but the company, so it's alright'.
Absolutely ridiculously farcical. Take this review as a warning, clearly having business problems with high staff turnover and incompetence, lack of controlled communications (I had to call up their accounts department when the branch managers said it's not their responsibility), complete disregard to customer satisfaction and appears to have cashflow problems, given such delayed remittence of rents.
