In the 30 years I have been buying, selling and renting property, I have never come across an estate agent as bad as Connells in Kingswood, Bristol. If you have a choice, avoid these guys at all costs.
Issues have included:
Failing to pass information between buyer and seller;
Failing to reply to calls and emails (in fact they have never replied to any of my emails);
Mortgage advice is free, but you need to join their "club" at £500 to get this - a complete con in my opinion.
If you HAVE to use them, put everything in writing and keep copies. Keep a diary of events, conversations, names of individuals etc. If you can talk direct with the seller or buyer, do it, it was save you a lot of time and money. And most of all, don't let them pressurise you into doing anything you don't want to.
They are signed up to the Property Ombudsman Organisation, where you can complain and seek compensation free of charge. I'm starting my complaint today.

I don't know where to begin. The house in particular I was interested in was a new build on a small development of 10 properties. All were advertised as having 2 parking spaces. Six weeks after placing a reservation fee did I find out it in fact only had one parking space. In fact, 9 of the ten houses came with a single parking space, although all had been advertised with 2.
Communications were terrible. Whilst I had made it clear I would be unable to commit to an exchange date, I was chased after only a couple of weeks. After six weeks the developed pulled out of the deal. I don't believe at any time my information was passed on to the developer.
Once the developer had pulled out, I was informed that my reservation fee would not be returned. This was against the contract I signed. I chased this with emails and calls - none were returned, and I don't believe the developer was ever contacted.
Finally I contacted the developer direct, and within 3 hours the money returned.
I have now started a complaint through Connells seeking compensation. If this is unsuccessful, i will complain to the Property Ombudsman. This is not a way to treat a first time buyer, who needs help and guidance in the process, not lies and lack of interest.
