Myself and my partner moved to this area for work and had never lived here or rented before, so we looked around at a variet of agents until we came across a few great apartments. The one that stood out due to prime location and low cost was through Key Properties. As stated above... The swanky offices and initial interest is all a\'s the worst decision we\'ve ever made. I\'ll tell you we go...
Picked up the keys - only gave us one set.obviously impractical for a couple that work completely different hours..over a period of 3/4 weeks we were constantly fobbed off saying the landlord was handing them in...theyl be ready for pick up on numerous diff dates..then EVENTUALY found out that the 2nd set and the landlord were in Dubai and had been before we even got the first set of keys.LIES
Got told by the estate agent the only bills we had to pay we\'re electric, water and council tax.(first time renters) then got told after we moved in we would have to pay £40 for heating the water...then get told a few months later they want even more as the landlords bills came through for the previous year and was higher... We\'ve only been in the flat 4 months and hardly use hot water! Worked out outsells using the Meyer it should be no more than £200 for a full year!!!
Quite a few appliances that were on our inventory were not there... Quite big microwaves etc... And took them 3 weeks to get that back to us even though they wanted it from us the day after we moved in!
Quite a few Appliences have never worked since we moved in and 6 months down the line still aren\'t!! Even after call after call after call after email after email and like stated above...never call you back. Then the Key Properties office gave some RANDOM guy who\'s supposedly a friend of a friend of a friend of the landlord our number to arrange to come check out our Appliences to see if he can fix them. Was he a contractor? NOPE. Did he do thy occupation at all? NOPE! Just a "handy man". What a joke!
They give you "copies of letters" they have supposedly sent to your energy and bills providers...again LIES! Waited 4 weeks after we moves in and started to get worried as we had not heard anything. So I phoned the supposed electricity provider which the "letter" was sent too. Had never provided electric to the flat or even the building! Phones Key for such luck " aw we don\'t know then..try phoning some numbers and I\'m sure you\'ll find out" thanks...then on to water and council tax...neither had never recieved any such letter.coincidence? Don\'t think so.
Meant to give you a note of your electricity and water meter readings upon moving in? We got ours after lots of pestering 2. Months after moving in.
Upon moving in we also asked if we could change our payment date until after we got paid, after the fist payment was taken, and just pay the difference that first month, and we\'re told that would be fine and just to phone and request the exact figure the week before the first payment due. Called and again"well get someone to call you"... About 6 calls later EVENTUALY got the figure. Paid it as planned and set up the advised new payment date. The next month comes and goes...revieve an email " You are in arrears with your rent".. The manager who confirmed it had all been changed...didn\'t change the due date to what was advised, and when we called to fix it, was advised to "prove" if paid the payment!!!!
And to top it all off when I asked to speak to the manger of Key Properties Manchester...and explained how much stress it\'s been putting us under especially as first time renters with new jobs...I got told " your problems aren\'t my priority and not that important" :-/ Worst service... Felt like shit on his shoe.
Tenants rights don\'t cover you for al this stuff though guys...I\'ve researched it trust thing to do is stay completely clear of KEY PROPERTIES. It would be better run by a bunch of monkeys...
I\'m defo NEVER going through them again and can\'t wait until our tenancy is up. It\'s caused us both stress and severe lack of sleep and stupidly large amounts of wasted time and money. Make sure you check sites like this before choosing a property. Your happiness and peace of mind is more important than a couple of me..
What agent could do to change your mind?
The things Key Propertiea could do better is basically the complete and utter opposite to everything they have done. Could save themselves time and reputation by just handing problems with professionalism and with some compassion and understanding. Need a better complaints handling process and defo a better Manger- attitude stinks and would be sacked or diaciplined if he worked for most other companies.
