I can only assume there is some kind of bot leaving positive reviews on Trust Pilot. Either that or it's compulsory for staff to leave them. This is an assumption of course as I'm just a bit angry that this company continues to exist. Please, if you are thinking about instructing Purple Bricks due to the fee, consider their perfect business plan. If they sell it, you pay. If they don't sell it, you pay.
I've been involved with chains with Purple Bricks ever since they appeared on the scene. As any decent agent will tell you, 70% of the job really starts once the sale has been agreed.
“Purple Bricks do not make proactive outgoing calls.” That's a direct quote from a member of staff at their “progression hotline”. Because of this, na¯ve buyers who otherwise would be lead through the process by an agent are left to assume that all is well. This causes huge delays. It also means that the agents either side of PB in chains have to insist on getting solicitors details for all involved in the chain and progress the PB part for them. At this stage I feel it would be irresponsible to use them or recommend them.
I've had a chain fall apart this morning involving PB representing a lady in her 80s. We would class her as a vulnerable vendor and would take special care to guide her through the process. Her buyer withdrew 3 weeks ago and nobody knew as he only told this to his broker. The “experts” at the progression hotline are a joke. Money, time and stress wasted on something that a real estate agent would have avoided by using common sense and experience.
It's getting to the point where decent buyers will be have their chances of getting properties affected by the involvement of PB somewhere in the chain.
Just an awful, irresponsible company.

I'll second this. Like it or not, sales progression is part if the expectation that your customer has if you're employing an estate agent whether you're buying or selling. I get told they are a "Reactive" after sales service constantly, ie they ring/email when you ask them to. If they don't get an answer, the progression ends there. So, if a buyer changes their circumstances (which happens enough times to consider on any sale), it's unlikely you'll hear about it without asking a lot. It all gets a bit clouded in my experience regarding who took the offer and who deals with proof of finance ID/Address. Sometimes it's the local property expert, sometimes it's the head office but in most cases if there's no record of it, it'll be the local rep's fault and almost certainly if that's the case, you'll never get a reply from them which begs the question of if it ever was obtained.
In the last 3 weeks I have had to cancel a sale to a Purple Bricks vendor and had to turn down two further offers. All had received incorrectly reported offers (ie much longer chains than they thought and/or crucial details missing). As a vendor, I think you have to accept you'll have to keep a very close eye on your solicitor and hope your buyer is on the ball with a decent solicitor.
