Where to begin. All seemed great to begin with, then came moving in day. Supposedly, a "professional clean" had been done/charged to previous tenant though struggled to see where. The place was an absolute shambles. Covered in dust and marks on walls and laminate flooring all over the place. We had to do this ourselves before could move any belongings in. Then came damage to areas that weren't highlighted on initial inventory report. Missing light bulbs, smoke/heat alarm hanging off hallway ceiling (this was noticed by us on viewing and was told by agent this would be fixed by time moved in if accepted). Downlighter hanging out of its casement in bathroom directly over shower, cracked and none working shaver light over bathroom mirror, shockingly covered in expanding gap filler foam. Kitchen sink hot water lever/tap barely hanging on and worst of all the internal handle to front door wasn't even attached, came off moment touched it. 2 storage heaters didn't work and light fitting in bedroom that general public cannot buy a bulb for (3 prong bayonet). Needless to say, the maintenance reports after an hour went through the roof.
Inspections every 2 months (new tenant inspection was expected) but seriously, so often?? - Right to a quiet life was none existent. Each time they attempted to enter without us present despite being warned not to as this would invalidate our contents insurance. Only when they were threatened with legal action did they relent.
Any maintenance issues took weeks to resolve, especially the heating. By this time we were long into a vicious cold snap in the weather despite these being reported as emergency issues that supposedly should be dealt with within 24 hours. In the end we had to pay someone to come out and fix the smoke alarm and tap issues (which will be invoiced to Centrick).
We decided after the 1st week in the property that we would not renew our tenancy at the end of the initial 12 months. Now came checkout time 11 months later. Fully painted the walls in all rooms, professional cleaned oven, carpet in bedroom and scrubbed the bathroom and kitchen to within an inch of its life. The place was in a far better condition than when we moved in. Received the check out draft inspection and they have gall to try and charge £10 for the missing light bulb (remember there was never one there to begin with as the downlighter did not have a retaining ring inside the unit to hold a bulb) - this reported maintenance issue from tenancy start date was never acted upon. Professional cleaning charge for a tiny smear on glass door of oven, nothing more than a finger print. Stains on the ceramic hob plates (general wear and tear which is unavoidable), dust in the bath tub.. Yeah right!!! and astoundingly.. £114 charge to reconnect electricity supply to flat!! It was never cut off, just turned off at the fuse box in the cupboard, as it was when we moved in.
We are challenging every single one of these ridiculous petty charges. If they can find a way to take a bit more money off you then they will.
I highly recommend you avoid this shambolic cowboy outfit of an agency and please do read all reviews regarding their actions and reputation on all review sites. The consensus is the same throughout all of them.
