After dealing with EJ Harris its hard to determine if the company and its employees are completely incompetent or operate with a blatant disregard for clients and common operational standards. To give you a back drop to the story, we put in an offer for an apartment in South Audrey Street after some negotiation we ended up putting in an offer for the asking price. Needless to say the offer was accepted, the agreements was lined up and a holding deposit was transferred to EJ Harris. We got the paperwork for the reference check, after filling in all the paperwork we got told that all was good and got a confirmed move date.
After a few emails sent from us to EJ Harris went unanswered and the move in date got closer we decided to call EJ Harris if anything just to get an answer in respect to come request made in regards to furniture\'s. When finally manage to get someone on the phone I was told that the person we had dealt with was on holiday, but all was fine. Later the same day I got a call from a different person at EJ Harris saying she had some bad news e.g. the landlord had take a different offer. This offer was made 4 days after we (i) agreed to pay full asking price (ii) cleared the reference check (ii) paid a holding despot so EJ Harris and the landlord would take the property of the market (iv) we as never informed of the offer, hence no chance to counter offer.
More so after spring this news on us EJ Harris refused to take any form of responsibility for the situation they had put us in, quoting from an email between the owner of EJ Harris and us "We can not be held liable, what happens to the to the property we manage is totally out of our control". More so at the time of writing this we have not go a grantee from EJ Harris that the holding despot will be return as that should also cover agency fee if the deals falls true.
From experience i know the property market in London can be rough at times and as a tenant you might be more prone to go with the best apartment rather than the agent. But, from our experience i would strongly advice against using this agency. We believe (stressing believe) that this agent have deliberately held back information and not acted in the best interest for us as a potential client.
