I attended a flat viewing and was told I had to provide £200 in order to even apply for the flat. Although I did not know if this practice was legal, I did so as I liked the flat, and provided all of the other information required for the rental. A few days later I received a congratulatory email saying I had been selected to rent the flat. As a consequence, I immediately confirmed that I would rent the flat and then canceled all my other viewings. Six hours later I received another email from Pure saying someone else had now been selected for the flat and that my £200 would be refunded. The only explanation given was that there had been a lot of applicants! I immediately wrote to Pure to complain at this treatment and that I would write a review of this. I received no response so submitted a review on Google. I then very quickly received a response to my Google review saying that one of their staff had made a mistake in notifying me that I had been selected. It was very odd that it took six hours for them to notice this mistake, even though I had confirmed I would take the flat, and I only got a response from Pure once I posted a negative review on Google.

I would discourage anyone from working with this agency. Beware illegal fees, asking for a high amount of pre-deposit money and they will not reserve the property. Stay well away if you value your time and money. They do not provide their full names, very ...

Pure Property Management appears to still demand non-refundable holding deposit, an illegal practice under Scottish Law (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-33782744).

Rupert, that is absolutely untrue! We do not charge any non-refundable deposit. All deposits or part deposits that any tenant or prospective tenant may pay is refundable. I don't know who you've spoken to but you have been seriously mis-informed. ...
