We made an offer to rent a property via Walker Wyatt about 3 months ago and were not told straight away that we would be renting from the actual owner of the agency (Clear conflict of interest). We paid the £300 deposit and waited to receive the tenancy agreement. Their so-called standard agreement was so one-sided in favour of the landlord but not the tenants, that we had to contact a solicitor to get advice as to whether we should sign it. We were told that various clauses were clearly unenforceable / not compliant with the Housing Act ! When we sent our solicitor's comments, we were told that this was their standard AST and basically either we accepted or we would lose our deposit. So, we lost the deposit but refused to be at their mercy. I was very surprised by the positive reviews on allagents but realised that there are all from 3-4years ago. I guess the management and team have changed and they now have some really dodgy way to running the business.
My advice, avoid at all cost.
