I don't even know where to begin. There isn't one positive experience we had with Centrick. We went through all the hoops to start our tenancy and they didn't tell us we were approved until 2 days before the beginning of our tenancy, leaving us completely in the dark and forced us to contact them multiple times. When we first moved in, our washing machine didn't work - the building was a brand new build. We contacted them immediately, and then had to again everyday for two weeks. We had to threaten them with hiring someone on our own to fix it and charging them before they sent someone out to sort it out. The building was in constant disrepair, which was Centrick's to maintain, including broken windows and doors which allowed anyone to come in and out as they pleased, completely unsafe. The building was an old office building that was converted to flats, meaning there were windows on the outside of the building that didn't open. Unfortunately they weren't sealed properly which meant that the inside filled with mould extremely quickly, as well as leaked inside. When we informed Centrick of this, they did nothing. We had to go to Seven Capital (above Centrick) who then dealt with it. The building's internal fan/circulation system (which is in place because the windows don't open) apparently had filters that the landlord/Centrick are supposed to change every few months...these weren't changed at all throughout our two year tenancy. There was dirt rings around the vents in our flat which Seven Capital saw and informed us about while they were fixing the mould. We did contact Centrick about this but I'm sure you know what they said...nothing.
Upon end of tenancy, w were told by Centrick that it must be professionally cleaned prior to the inspection using their cleaner. When we contacted said cleaner who said that we should not do that as they will bring them in after we leave regardless, thus having to pay double the cleaning charges. Centrick then did the inspection and charged us nearly our entire deposit (no exaggeration) for petty things, most of which were clearly wear and tear (scuffs on the kick boards below kitchen counters; peeling paint on the above the shower in the bathroom which had no extractor fan; chemically cleaning an oven that was already chemically cleaned...the list goes on and on). When we received the charges, naturally we contacted Centrick (specifically Harj Kaur) who was incredibly rude and not helpful in the slightest. We requested photos of the "damage" and "dirt" and upon receiving them, discovered they were the most minor things they charged us between £30 and £75 for. While I obviously wouldn't expect the full deposit back (after general clean/minor damages caused over two years), I am disgusted and horrified they took nearly the entire deposit from us (seriously, they took £771.95 from our £1087.50). I would never tell my worst enemy to go with Centrick, so I sincerely hope none of you go with them!
For your own safety, avoid Metropolitan Building in Birmingham. It's extremely poorly maintained and Centrick does not do a good job. Full stop.
