Myself and my partner viewed a property with MTD. We were told that if we liked the property and paid a £200 fee, the property would be taken off the market straight away while our application was processed. We decided to apply for the property, so the next day we phoned up MTD and were told the flat was still available. As soon as we were given the company\'s bank details, we transferred in our £200 holding fee by a faster payment. However, a few hours later we received an email saying "unfortunately someone else has also paid the £200 to hold the property". I am unsure how this was allowed to happen, whether this was a mistake on their part or whether we were lied to about our £200 reserving the property, but we found this very unprofessional.

We were told we would have to put in our application and wait for the landlord to choose between ours and that of another prospective tenant. We were unable to take this risk as we do not live in the area and weren\'t able to come back for further viewings of more properties if our application was unsuccessful, so we asked for a refund of our £200. We did receive this around a week later.
What agent could do to change your mind?
- not allowed two applicants to \'reserve\' a property, or if this is normal policy, been more upfront about this. - refunded our ‚£200 more quickly
