It's simple really, having worked as a letting agent myself and having dealt with many, this was the worst agency I've ever come in to contact with.

After paying a deposit over the phone as advised last year with no mention of "non refundable" and nothing in writing, the agency pulled out on me days before I was due to move in and threatened I'd receive none of the roughly 350 pounds back. As you can imagine, stress levels were already high and this took the biscuit. The reason I was given was the my referencing hadn't been completed in 48 hours but as I had explained, I was having issues with the site to complete it on. Finally I got it across but was then told it was too late and "the landlord doesn't think you're committed". The girl I dealt with who's name I've forgotten was rude and argumentative throughout. Eventually the manager returned our deposit £60 less for the referencing fee which wasn't even processed!! I'm fairly certain after checking all documentation with no mention of "non refundable" that what they did was illegal.

All I can say is that if you choose to go with these crooks then good luck! I make sure I advise everyone against them that I can.
