Renting? Be warned!
Centrick's Birmingham branch is an absolute nightmare to deal with when renting. They have absolutely no customer service, are impossible to get a hold of over the phone, and they will not respond to your emails - even if they are regarding urgent matters (and marked as such)!
In the process of us getting set up to rent a place with them they have managed to mess up on every step of the way. This includes:
• consistently getting dates and times wrong in confirmation emails following phone conversations;
• getting our address wrong in correspondence with insurers and deposit holders;
• failing to provide important information (such as the fobs to the building not being active upon receipt);
• providing fobs that are outdated AND for the wrong flat/building;
• having staff members present at the property after we have signed contracts (who acted as if we were the ones that were not meant to be there!)
• failing to ensure that basic maintenance had been carried out ahead of us moving in;
• failing to ensure that the flat had been cleaned to an appropriate standard;
• failing to take responsibility for their mistakes and remaining wholly unapologetic about the issues THEY cause.
They may put on a front of being helpful until you pay a reservation fee, after that they seemingly turn blind, deaf, mute, and incapable of even carrying out even the most basic tasks right.
Their properties may be in great locations and look great on paper, but no amount of money is worth the amount of stress and grief you will have to deal with as a result of renting with them!
I would rate them 0, or negative if possible!
Comment on agent fees
They take 150 quid to do an inventory, which obviously is not done properly as there were faults at the flat that are considered urgent maintenance fixes!
They charge tenants for a 'professional clean' upon moving out. Given the state of our 'professionally cleaned' flat, they definitely just pocket this money for themselves and never clean the place (this is fraud!)
