Every time I heard Foxtons was a nightmare, I didn't realise how bad it could be. But after a few hours into my new flat I already got a sense of what my next year is going to be like. Hell.
First of all, the Property Manager, Anett Nemes, never showed up to inspect the flat before I moved in or show me around. The keys (I still don't have a full set of keys by the way, if I need to take the trash out, for example, I have to ask one of the neighbours to let me back in) were left for me to pick up. I was never given the Gas Certificate either. So basically by the first day, 3 or 4 clauses of the contract had already been broken.
No pre-tenancy cleaning was ever made, the flat was so dirty it took me 3 days to be able to clean everything and really move in. Contrary to all promises made by letting agent Shannagh Docherty during the viewing, none of the agreed conditions were actually respected (in her own words were 'obvious things to get done before anyone moved in and didn't even need to be mentioned twice').
There were (and still are) several broken things around the flat, and even though it was part of the deal for them to get everything cleaned and fixed before I moved in (they had 5 weeks to do everything), that won't be happening as Anett Nemes doesn't bother answering to emails or picking up her phone.
Whenever you try to get in touch with anyone from Foxtons, you always get the same responses: they aren't the office yet, they're in another call and will call you back (they never do), or they're out of the office. So it has been over one month now that I live in a flat where almost everything is broken and I just can't get through anyone from Foxtons. The few times I was able to speak to Anett Nemes, for example, I could clearly see she wasn't even listening to me as she would go quiet on the phone and then reappear again 3 minutes after, repeating the same things she had already said even though that hadn't been what I have just asked her.
The lack of respect for the tenants is just indescribable, and it is a shame the landlords don't realise that their properties are being destroyed as well for the lack of proper management from Foxtons. My landlord lives abroad and hasn't been able to come to London in years, and I'm sure once she comes back she's gonna realise the dump-hole her property has become in the past years and how expensive it will be for her to get it back to decent, liveable conditions.
Do yourself a favour and NEVER let from Foxtons, especially if they are the ones doing the property's management.
