If I could give no stars I would. We rented a property managed by Leaders for 6 months, I would never ever rent a property through them again. The staff spoke down to us and were often very rude. I would like to make it clear that we never missed a payment nor left the property in any state other than immaculate.
While in the property we reported a few things to which they were never dealt with and we never got calls back.

I understand they have to be strict as many people live in properties and ruin them with pets etc. We had one indoor cat, whih we paid £200+VAT extra deposit for her to be in the house during the tenancy. (That's okay, no complaint there) But when we purchased a property and it was time to leave we were made to pay £116 to clean the carpets (which were immaculate) as we had a pet in the house. (Again, frustrating but I can live with that) BUT Leaders took the payment out twice from our account, at the end of a month before pay day. Which I am sure as you can understand caused for money to be super tight. A simple mistake we thought. Until they would not give us our money back for nearly 2 weeks!! Unacceptable in my eyes. No apology and we were spoken to like we had done something wrong and we were to blame. Absolutely disgraceful.

Let me add, we never got any receipt for this cleaning and never saw it being done as they booked it for the day after we left. Who knows, it wouldn't surprise me if it never took place.

Then.... As if we needed any more drama (purchasing a house is stressful) We had to get the cat out the house for viewings to take place, we are flexible so were as accommodating as possible. The cat had been with my mother for 2 days (very distressed in a new environment) I called leaders to ask if the house had been let so I could bring the cat home. I was met with a rude woman asking "Why would I need to know that information" I felt as if I had asked something totally wrong, you would have thought for the reaction I had asked personal details about the bloody new tenant. I got no answer. Once driven home from work found it was clearly written on a sign outside that a let was agreed, this was all I asked (clearly not private information!!)

It took 3 weeks to get our deposit back- fair enough it may have been out of their hands but after petty arguments like asking us how the aerial and satellite worked. The new tenants had moved in so this was nothing to do with us anymore. They worked before we left.

As I have just purchased my first house I can honestly I would never ever recommend or use Leaders myself for renting a property out. You have diddled your way out of potential future business. Hannells of Chaddesden have been so friendly and wonderful, you could never compare the two.
Comment on agent fees
Agents fees were the same as most other local agencies. Besides carpet cleaning. That was horrendously expensive.
