Appalling customer service from several members of the Walmley office. We have been contacted by the vendor who informed us that we were his preferred bidders and that he had instructed the agent to accept our offer. However, they urged him not to accept our offer as we are supposedly in a 'complex chain' so he should be 'wary', despite us providing all documentation to show there is nothing complex whatsoever. Furthermore, the vendor alleges that the agent broke all codes of ethical practice by informing the rival bidder of our offer and telling them exactly how much they should bid as a counter-offer to ensure they clinched the deal. Will be reporting this to the Property Ombudsman.
In addition, we had previously put in an offer on another property and had arranged a second viewing to consider increasing our offer. The agent cancelled this viewing at very short notice, informing us they had accepted another offer, which was fine. However, they contacted us an hour later to ask whether we would be prepared to improve our offer! Had they not cancelled the viewing, we would certainly have been prepared to consider this, but how could we do so when our viewing was cancelled at the last minute and no further viewings were made available?!
Rude and unhelpful staff who put pressure on the seller to accept offers from bidders the staff like as opposed to who the seller wants. Avoid at all costs.
