Absolutely appalling service both from local agent and subsequently from property management. Verbally agreed the tenancy and at no point did they mention that their fees were nearly £500 for the privilege (most local agents closer to £200 and frankly even this is a rip off for a brief viewing and a generic contract.) I threatened to pull out on grounds they had not been upfront about this and miraculously fees got dropped to £200. Absolutely no justification for the higher price except that they will try it to see if they can get away with it and it appears they usually do.
Now in the flat, numerous problems with the property management dept. They don;t return calls, they call back from a number you can't call back to but don;t leave a message, they don;t listen to the problem you have or deal with it properly. We have had a leaking toilet with a loose base and a broken seat for 4 weeks now, their contractor has been 3 times but failed to do the job properly each time yet they keep sending the same one back. They have now screwed up the flush so I will be going home to a floating turd tonight. Nice. They also used our bathtowels to mop the floor and left muddy footprints on the carpet.
AVOID AVOID AVOID and if you can't avoid go through everything with a fine tooth comb and get written confirmation of everything, make a note of any conversations you have and argue any rip off fees as they are just trying to screw you for whatever they can.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Not do any of the things described above, be honest and deal with problems in an efficent and timely manner
