In brief: distant, unhelpful, slow, dismissive and committed only to money, not to the landlords or the tenants.
- We had to wait over 6 months to have a dripping tap fixed.
- We had to mend our gas fire ourselves as they had not done anything at all despite several requests and it being winter.
- They do not return phone calls or emails when they say... ever.
- They blame each other, change job titles to avoid admitting fault and pass you around in circles to delay doing anything.
- They charge a fee at every possible stage, further proving they care solely about the money, not the property or the people involved.
- They don't carry out inspections properly at all. They guessed at the state of our garden as being slightly overgrown having not looked at it and said no photos were taken of the living room as it was being worked in at the time. Both were false statements. We had them corrected after having frank words with them.
- They simply do not manage the property as contracted or as the landlords pay them to. They make living in/renting from them a constant hassle and frustration.
Comment on agent fees
Bad. Every opportunity to eke money out of tenants, Martin & Co will take. When it came to the references from them for us to move, they withheld them from our prospective next letting agent until our outrageous £25 fee had cleared in their account and then they made a farce of it, not answering calls and delaying the whole process to the point we were extremely close to losing the property we needed the references for.
Utterly incompetent.
